Hydrogen Peroxide was created by joyce block
I have a couple questions concerning hydrogen peroxide. I use the food grade peroxide for washing fruits and vegetables to kill parasites and buy it from the health store. It is very expensive and I wonder if you could recommend a source where it would be affordable to use in the laundry instead of bleach?
Also, what is the ratio of hydrogen peroxide you use for bleaching clothes?
My bottle of hydrogen peroxide says to refrigerate it, do you recommend this also?
Thank you for such an informative and helpful website. I really appreciate all your work you have put into this.

I've never heard of hydrogen peroxide in the fridge. I buy 35% food grade and dilute. It is hazardous though but works great and can be stored at room temperature. Because it goes so far it's a good buy in my mind.

I might use 1/2 cup of 3% solution for clothes. I don't really have this "down" to be honest. I'm not always successful. Just the other day my daughter got blackberries on her white shorts. I made a paste with my laundry soap and left it on overnight. It came out great.
Thank you for the encouragement.

Thank You so much Andrea for answering my questions and the great website for ordering hydrogen peroxide (much cheaper than the health store.)
I called this site and asked about putting it in the refer. They said refrigeration is best, otherwise store it in a cool dark area such as a basement.
I don't know if you have on your website but it would be so helpful to give the websites where all the different items you mentioned can be purchased.

I don't ever remember seeing that on the label! Good to know. I have it in a cool dark place with no room to put in our fridge - but that is still good information.
I agree we need a list of sources. Thank you for encouraging us in that direction, Joyce.

Have you tried washing with vinegar ? Even vinegar has disinfectant properties and is safe.
