Kefir - making lotion was created by Nancy Cloonan
I am confused when trying to make lotion out of kefir. The receipe says 1/2 c kefir with 2 cup store bought cream. I haven't been able to find NON-uatra pasteurized cream, so I have not tried making the lotion. Anyway, the 1/2 c kefir are you talking about the liquid after you have femented the grains and strained the grains, or do you use the grains mix with the store bought cream? I am just really confused here. I hope I am making sense in my question.
So do I take my grains and do the fermenting process with the cream, or do I take my already made kefir and mix it with the cream.
Thanks
Nancy

Nancy,
Your question makes perfect sense. I use Strauss cream...Whole Foods carries it. It is not Ultra pasteurized. I have also ordered fresh raw cream from Amos Miller Farms. (you have to join the farm but I have found them to be very reliable.)
I take the strained kefir (liquid kefir) and mix it with the cream in a clean glass jar. Allow to sit for 24 hours. Stir and refrigerate. I have used grains to make cream kefir but it is tough to strain out.
Let me know how it goes!
