Can I use rhassoul clay every day?
There is no buildup with rhassoul clay, and it is effective yet gentle. Use as often as you like.
The rhassoul clay doesn't seem to wash out of my hair. Am I doing something wrong?
Mix in enough water for it to be a creamy consistency. After applying be sure to comb through. Let the clay sit for a few minutes (which is a great chance to use it on your face). Rinse through and comb again. The second combing makes a big difference. For added benefit, rinse with raw apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to restore your hair's normal pH of approximately 5.6.
Expect a cumulative effect with rhassoul clay. The clay is restoring your hair, so it can take a couple of months to receive the full benefit.
Can I mix rhassoul clay ahead of time and store it for future use?
Yes, mix up a batch and store in a glass jar or other airtight container. It can be kept at room temperature.
Do I need to be concerned about our drains when using rhassoul clay?
Rhassoul is a very fine clay and liquefies well. You should have no trouble.
Is rhassoul clay beneficial for African-American hair needs?
The clay comes highly recommended on a number of websites specific to African-Americans. Here is one example.
My kids don’t like the smell of apple cider vinegar. Is there another rinse you can suggest?
If you make the Queen of Hungary Water with extra rose petals and combine with rose water, the smell is lessened. Lemon juice also makes an excellent rinse.
